Georgia teacher found not guilty in 'dirty dancing' trial

In Decantur, Georgia a teacher was found not guilty on charges of contrubuting to acts of misdemenor depravation of a minor. Back in 2008 students in his choir class performed dance routines for their whole class, according to eye witnesses their teacher was helping another student find their music at the time, when three male students stripped out of their shirts and made sexual moves twoards a group of girls in the front row of their classroom audience. The school fired him last year when they alleged that he didn't properly supervise his students. The real issue was when one of his students posted the video to facebook.

In this case, i believe that the verdict was completely accurate. He does not deserve to be punished for what his students did in his classroom. They were fully capable of knowing what they were doing, they are all older high school students. In high school we are beginning to be considered as adults, why wouldn't we be able to take responsibility of our own actions? Those young adults knew exactly what they were doing. And in that they should be the ones to be taking the consequences and just dealing with them. In the article, there is a link to the link that was posted to facebook, and having personally watched the video, I do not think that there is anything wrong with it. If anyone would watch that video, then go to any high school dance, they would feel that the dance at the high school was way more provacative than the video of what those boys did in a presentation of expression and movement it their choir class.

Dead Marine's father ordered to pay protestors' legal costs

At a fallen soliders funeral in 2006 a group of protestors, who were protesting the war, came to his funeral and started shouting obscene things and violating the private rights of the family that was holding the funeral in honor of their son. The family sued the church that the group of protestors, in that settlement they gain little more than 5 million dollars in damages. But in recent events, the court overturned that ruling stating that it was against first amendment rights to have the protestors pay the money, now the family of the discesed has to pay back those damages to the church. So instead of shutting down those types of protests, they are now going to be funding them.

I think that this is one of the most ridiculous things to ever happen to the American legal system. Why in the world would any judge or jury for that matter decide that the right thing to do would be to go and fund people who are against the very soliders who fight to keep them and their country free. Sure, its against the first amendment to stop freedom of speech, but to go and intrude into someones final reception and burial is just morally wrong in my book. Let them and their family have their peace, and allow them to have their closure. Those people think that it's a sin to go to war, and that its God's way of punishing the United States for homosexuality is by events such as soliders' deaths. But what would happen if one of their own church members became a homosexual, yet they just didn't know it? That has me wondering. I believe that in the United States people can be whatever they want to be, as long as they aren't hurting anyone, or breaking the law they are fine.

Cold Case: Teen was snatched from street, killed.

Back in June of the year 2000 Leah Freeman disappeared in from her smalltown just around dusk when she was walking home from a freinds house. Police have now reopened this cold-case because they say that since 10 years have passed, the witnesses have now become more mature about what happened and are coming forward with key information. Since the case has been reopened the main suspect in the case is Leah's boyfriend who was supposed to pick her up at her friends house that night. But her friend and her had gotten into a fight, and Leah decided to go home early. After she disappeared her body wasn't found until a month later in a neighboring town.

One thing that i do not understand about this case or this article is why they are saying they are reopening this case now that witnesses, who didn't see her being abducted are coming forward with information. Considering the information is 10 years old it cannot still be clear in that persons mind what actually happend that night. Considering i can't remember what i had did last week in math class, i don't think that people are going to recall little tiny details that happend 10 years ago. But if they want to do this now because the forensic science is going to be so much better, wouldn't thebasic forensic evidence have already deteriorated 10 years later? I guess nowadays they can preserve even the simpilist particles of evidence. But to have her boyfreind as the main suspect i believe is a bit ridiculous, just because he was out smoking pot doesnt meant that he went and killed his girlfriend. Even though they had found a white male tank top on his front porch, and she was wearing one the night she died doesn't mean he killed her. Boys do tend to wear male white tank tops. But hopefully they find the killer in this case.

Google quits censoring search in China

Internet search giant Google announced that at 3:03 p.m. they have stopped censoring searches for the chinese people. They have been censoring searches, and restricting what sites that the Chinese people have been wanting to look at due to their communistic reign in their country. They now are routing all of the searches to Google in Hong Kong that is unrestricted, but it did not take long for the Chinese government to catch on to their plans. Some users in China have been complaining about not having access to the Google routers in Hong Kong. Due to these new findings, the Communistic government has began cutting off the google access in their country all together. Soon, a Google representative says, it could be quite possible that Google will be shut down in China all together.

I believe that Google made the right move in unblocking all services to the Chinese. Those people, just like the americans, have a right to be able to look up whatever they want to. Just because they have a communist government, that doesn't give the government the power to look up and block certain key words. Some of these key words or events in the history of China were such as Tiananmen Square, the banned Falun Gong spiritual movement, and as well as the Dalai Lama. Personally, i am glad that i live in a country where i can look up whatever I want to and gain access to it. Even though at our schools i believe that the restrictions are a little bit over the top. If a student chose to do a topic on WWII or more specifically the Nazi movement, they would not be able to gain access to that information at school. It is blocked, so even if it is a part of our own personal history we cannot look it up or do searches on the topics that really interest us. So i guess that in the way that we, as students, are censored is quite a bit like the restrictions in China. Alot over the top, and ridiculous in my opinion, but I realize that somehow they are trying to protect us from the evils of the world, even if it dampens our education.

Rapper Lil' Wayne sentenced to one year

Rapper Lil' Wayne, whose birth name is Dwayne Carter, was sentenced on Monday March 8th to one year in prison on felony gun possesion charges. He was caught in 2007 in front of the Beacon Theater in Manhattan, New York with a .40 caliber pistol on his tour bus. Even though his attorney says the pistol belonged to someone else Carter still took the blame. His prosecution was delayed twice, once to get his diamond studded braces removed from his teeth, and another due to a fire at a courthouse. He plead guilty, giving no statement due to an agreement with the District Attorneys office.
I believe that this is both fair and unfair, if he wasn't such a famous person in the world of music the trial would have gone unnoticed by the public. But for him to take the blame for another person is really an honorary thing to do. Well that is if he even did take the blame for someone else, and that wasn't just a cop out to possibly get the blame taken off of him. But for him to spend up to a year in jail, i believe is a bit excessive. He should have to do time just like the next person who gets caught on gun charges, but because of his fame he could put his time to good use. Instead of staying in jail for a year he could bring awarness to different causes, or work off his time doing community service work. By him just going out into the public and bringing attention to certain causes he could make such a big difference. The fame he would bring to a certain charitable cause would bring in hundreds of volunteers, and hundreds of dollars donated to help out. So instead of him sitting away in jail for a year and getting special protection his time could be spent alot more wisely.
