About 21 percent of all the children in the United States will be living below the poverty line in 2010. That is the highest percentage in almost 20 years. This is due to the families economic well being plummeting in the last 25 years. Most families now a days have cut back on how many children they have, but studies show that the larger the family is the more likely they are to be in poverty. Also there is an expected peak in the obesity of children. Since the families with the tighter budjets will be moving towards buying less healthy food for cheaper, the weight levels in most children is expected to rise.
This is so sad. Why can't people seem to use birth control and be able to raise healthy children who dont have to live in poverty and know nothing about going hungry at night because their parents cannot possible feed all of them. They shouldn't have to eat canned fruit high in sugars and saturated fats if their parents could afford to buy fresh fruits and veggies that are actually healthier for them. Also peopel should start adopting the children who are in their own country that are growing up hungry and cold. Yes its a wonderful thing when other children are adopted outside of the United States, don't get me wrong, but then if their are plenty of children going hungry in our own nation why don't we just adopt them? It seems to make more sense to me, but apparently not to every other family that has adopted from outside of the country.
