British hostages: We're being badly treated

A British couple, Paul and Rachel Chandler, were taken from their yacht on October 23 when Somalian pirates captured the couple and took them ashore. The couple is being held in separtate locations in central Tanzania. Their Somalian captors demanded 7 million dollars originally, which the British government in line with the policies they have set, refused to pay. The couple was filmed in a video last Thursday by a French news agency, where Rachel Chandler pleaded to the British government to help fund their release. The couple is not in good health, the woman is apparently suffering from insomnia while her husband is suffering from a bad cough and a fever.

I do believe that the British government should help get these people out of the Somolians charge. But i do not think that they should have to pay for the 7 million dollars that they are demanding. Since the French news company filmed the womans half of the video, shouldn't they know where she is? Why can't they help get her out? People these days do not know how to help others. What happend to helping people when they are in need, instead of helping them when it only directly affects you. If everybody gave a little bit more, life would be a lot simpiler. I'm not talking about money help either, it can be any kind. Donations of food, clothing, money and even time can help. Donating time, i believe, is the best thing to donate. Time to help clean ditches, paint buildings, build homes with habitat for humanity, even simply raking leaves in an elderly neighbors yard in the fall can go a long way. Its called the whoosh effect, if someone says something like i'm so tired, everyone around them will chime in me too, or same. But if one person helps somebody by opening a door, or giving someone their seat on the bus when its full can be an eye opener. Some people might look and see that and say hey, that was nice of them, i should go and help somebody like that. The whoosh effect. I hope those people get released from Somalia soon, so they can go home and move on with their lives.
